From various do-it-yourself layouts, to basic kits, and the relatively inexpensive boost converters, none of them seemed to fit what I was hoping for. I wanted a modular supply that I could drop into an Arduino based project. I wanted it to be reliable and robust so I didn't have to worry about it, apart from the normal precautions of dealing with high voltage. Finally, I wanted it to look clean and elegant regardless of whether I ended up having the internals on display or not. Thankfully, I came across this supply, which stood out if not only for it's red PCB, but also using a flyback transformer. I also read the blog and back story for its creation from prototype to production. I highly recommend reading this if you are looking at nixie power supply options. So to sum up in my mind the product is excellent both in engineering and aesthetics.
